Can occasionally cause corneal infection of the eye. This group of fungi constitutes the most commonly reported causes of allergic fungal sinusitis. They produce type I fungal hypersensitivity in humans.
Found on grasses, grains, various plants, and decaying food. May grow in semi-dry environments. Some species are found in indoor environments. Because of the microscopic similarities between the two genera, they are grouped together on both viable and non-viable analysis.
