Sativa Analyst – N. Chesterfield, VA

The Analyst prepares and analyzes cannabis and cannabis-derived product samples for instrumental analysis using techniques in compliance with established laboratory Quality Assurance programs and Standard Operating Procedures.

Shift

  • Fulltime position, 35 – 40 hours/week
  • Must be available to work overtime and occasional weekends as necessary

Requirements

  • B.S. Chemistry / Biology or related science field
  • Attention to detail
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Capable of adjusting to rapidly changing priorities
  • Desire to learn and increase level of responsibility
  • Proficient in data entry and review

Responsibilities

  • Receive and log samples and other lab supplies into the Laboratory Information Management System
  • Organize the daily sample processing queue
  • Grind / homogenize samples and distribute material as necessary for requested services
  • Label and store samples
  • Perform extractions, filtrations, and any other required sample preparation steps, including quality control samples
  • Perform various microbiological and chemical analyses including both manual and instrumental techniques
  • Quickly escalate sample or quality controls issues to the Lab Manager
  • Prepare and label chemical solutions
  • Properly dispose of laboratory waste and excess sample material
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the work areas
  • Other duties as assigned
